II. Committee Reports

A.     Playground

q       We lost two fundraisers due to weather; the Halloween Madness concession, and the Portrait Fundraiser.  The Portrait Fundraiser will be rescheduled for sometime in the spring.

q       Our next fundraiser is the Holiday Shopping weekend, which will be November 20-23.  It will be on a larger scale than last year, including Terrace Jewelers, Pets Pets Pets, Country Flowers, Solaris, Solstice, Casola’s Pizza, Califon Bookshop, as well as some merchants in Clinton and Mansfield.  The stores will be giving the LTEF 10-20% of their proceeds.

q       The Cabin Fever Party will be held on February 20th.  It will probably be at St. Luke’s again.  It will not be a Casino Night, since we want to limit our cash outlay given we have not raised any money yet this school year.

q       We received the Wetlands Assessment study.  The property is not designated a wetland, which is good news.  However, the study is complex and Collette will be getting help from Nick Fabbroni, a township parent who has volunteered his expertise to assist with a complete review.  Collette will also be talking to Ruth Fanjoy and Judy Bird to find out what the board needs from us as a next step.

B.     Blues Fest

q       The Blues Fest Committee is getting e-mails every day from bands all over the U.S. who are interested in taking part in the next Blues Fest.  They are busy auditing tapes and going to performances.

q       Instead of one caterer, we will have a variety of small food vendors who will obtain their own insurance.

q       Mike reported that the committee plans to change the Family ticket to include children up to age 18.  Susan suggested we consider a graduated cost for kids, depending upon age.  $25 is a lot for teenagers, but we will lose a lot of money if we let older kids in free.  We could consider charging $10 for older teenagers, and allowing very small children in free.

C.     Web-site

q       Noreen will get the flyers for the Pavers and the Holiday Shopping fundraiser from Collette, to post on the web-site.

D.    Education Program

q       Anne was in touch with Anne Marie Kager about a belly dancing class.  Anne Marie had suggested a one-time introductory class of about 2 hours.  We could charge $20-25, and Anne Marie would donate 50% to the LTEF.

q       Elyse noted that we should check with Anne Marie about what insurance she has for her classes.  Mike asked that we schedule the class during the week, since there is a cost associated with using the school during the weekend.

E.     Golf Outing

q       Will probably be held in September, 2009.

III.             New Business

q       Mike e-mailed both principals to find out about potential projects that could be funded with the Alcatel-Lucent sponsorship money.  He has not gotten a response yet.

q       Mike received a brochure in the mail from the NJ Education Foundation Partnership, a statewide non-profit organization.  We can join for $100.  They are holding a conference this coming April in Princeton.
